      Corsets in Bridgerton

Silk gloves, beautiful jewels, and the pastel colors of Spring are all we at Orchard Corset HQ can think about after recently indulging in (and devouring!) the new Netflix show Bridgerton.

It’s been watched by nearly 63 million households, so it’s no wonder that the gorgeous fashion and style of the Bridgerton show is the forefront of many minds, not just ours! Netflix also announced that they’re renewing it for a second season. Yay!

      Corsets in Bridgerton cover image

Like many period pieces, the opening scene of the Season 1 showed one of the many eligible bachelorettes being assertively cinched into a corset for her debut back into society, to fetch herself a handsome suitor.

Her mother declares that she was able to “get her waist down to the size of an orange and a half”. Wow! The dreamy elegance of “Regencycore” doesn’t have to sound like torture. Our steel-boned corsets make it a breeze.

      Casual Elegance

A lot of Regency dresses are less focused on accentuating a lady’s form. How do they still project a sense of elegance and confidence? They couldn’t create that sense without a sturdy garment foundation to build on. In general, the foundational garments on Bridgerton are stealthing corsets.

Even though they’re not outwardly visible, they’re so mission critical that Kathryn Drysdale (who plays the dressmaker Genevieve Delacroix) thinks “everyone should have a corset”.

How do I recreate Bridgerton's casual elegance? You’ll need a corset that would be easy to stealth under clothing, but not dark-colored (so it doesn’t show through lighter color clothing). A corset made of satin or mesh works best as they’re pretty lightweight.

      Colors and Designs that Pop

If you’ve seen the show--and probably, even if you haven’t--you’re aware of the fact that the whole point of attending the fancy balls is for the ladies to catch the eye of a handsome suitor! The Featheringtons might be the most daring in terms of color and patterns that make an impression.

How do I recreate Bridgerton's eye-popping colors and designs? Our limited edition corsets have the most fabulous patterns, colors and fabrics. Brocade, leopard print, snakeskin, velvet… you name it! But they go fast! Sign up for our mailing list (near the bottom of the page) to find out about new releases. An overbust corset like the Overbust CS-511 can make any wardrobe ballroom (or date night!) ready.

      Formal but Gorgeous

On more than a few Bridgerton occasions, the dress code was less relaxed and flowy. Instead, the event was more formal and demanded structure and support. In these situations, nothing speaks more than beautiful posture! Daphne Bridgerton’s elegant and bejeweled gowns speak volumes of her grace and poise in such glamorous settings.

It’s amazing how good posture projects elegance, confidence and beauty.

How do I recreate Bridgerton's formal but gorgeous attire? While all of our corsets are steel-boned and offer great back support, the fabric can really make a difference. With such robust gowns and dresses, it wouldn’t be hard to look exquisitely fitted with the extra strength of our cotton fabric. Though a bit thicker, we think that cotton corsets would ensure the perfect posture.

There you have it! If you can’t get Bridgerton out of your mind, hopefully you’re one step closer to achieving your Regency-style dreams! Chat with one of our corset experts if you’d like a customized corset recommendation that works for you.
